The brief

SQ-90 replacing six ceiling speakers

Problem

  • Six ceiling loudspeakers arriving at different times
  • Highly reverberant sanctuary
  • Building fabric to be preserved — no acoustic treatment

Solution

Two SQ-90 arrays from a single location covering the entire floor, exciting fewer reflections than any conventional loudspeaker from the same position.

Outcome

  • Near-field sound in a highly ambient room
  • Significant increase in gain before feedback
  • Simpler operation for the engineers
